What is a regatta?
According to Bahamas.Gov.Bs, with the decline of the “working sail” came an availability of vessels in the 1950’s with dwindling purpose. Until the concept of a sailing race was proposed, the boats were then developed by both Bahamians and Americans to take part in a sailing race over several days. The first regatta was held in April 1954 and evolved into a national sport over time.

Where Can I Find Regattas In The Bahamas?
